Broken puppets for sale. No strings attached.

They must be talking about our doods in WADC! All broken, every one.

The fraudulent caged chicken farmer gave himself free range with his egg labeling.

This is supposed to be a joke/quote of the day thing, but sadly it's pretty much on target. If the good farmers are trying to screw people over by saying their produce is raised organically in such and such a way (when in reality it's probably not) how can we fault the big producers who at least tell us they're spraying their crops with poison. It's not right what they're doing, but fruits and veggies don't come with a label (neither do eggs, for that matter) so we must rely on their word.

That, my friends, is getting harder and harder to do.

So I asked my Doctor, "Doctor, what are we going to do about this dangerous virus from Africa?"

And he said . . .

"I don't know, he has two more years in office.”

This came in today's Pun for the Day email. Thought I'd share it here, since I'm a "dairy" lover!

A man just assaulted me with milk, cream and butter. How dairy.

This is what seems to be the guiding factor in WADC. ;)

Boy, truer words were NEVER spoken.

Quote:
The greatest threat to the future of our nation — to our freedom — is not foreign military aggression … but the growing dependence of the people on a paternalistic government. A nation is no stronger than its people and the best measure of their strength is how they accept responsibility. There will never be a great society unless the materialism of the welfare state is replaced by individual initiative and responsibility.

- Charles B. Shuman

You have no idea how destitute of talent are more than half of the members of Congress. Nine out of ten of your ordinary acquaintances are fully equal to them.

Code:
Just because somebody arbitrarily decides to disbelieve in a particular condition of physical reality does not cancel its existence.

IOW, use it this way - just because some doctor chooses not to believe in the use of supplements or herbs or yoga or massage or acupuncture or acupressure or whatever - doesn't mean those things don't exist and aren't useful, right? All the drugs in the world don't work for all the people in the world, and so it is with all the "natural" stuff - some of it won't work for EVERYONE either. I don't think any site I've ever seen makes a claim like that, because they are not as bold as bigphrma to make untrue claims.

But if we don't try the less dangerous first, how will anyone ever know if they will be useful or not? They won't. Because bigPhrMa will make sure of it as soon as they get the fdUH in the position where they can't refuse to accept anything from the medical/chemical realm as reality. Then, the gate will be open even wider than it is now for big phrma to rot people from the inside out with their poisonous crap.

As long as I draw breath, there will be little going into my body that has to do with rx drugs. My doctor had recently put me on a blood pressure pill. It did NOT agree with me, and I've stopped using it so we're back to square one. I'm trying to find a substitute. Mukta Vati worked for a while, but then dropped off. I'm now looking into the proper dose for potassium and what type of potassium to try. I'll keep looking until I find something, for sure. ;)

Boy, didn't this come true, sorry to say?

Quote:
Fascism will come at the hands of perfectly authentic Americans who have been working to commit this country to the rule of the bureaucratic state; interfering in the affairs of the states and cities; taking part in the management of industry and finance and agriculture; assuming the role of great national banker and investor, borrowing billions every year and spending them on all sorts of projects through which such a government can paralyze opposition and command public support; marshaling great armies and navies at crushing costs to support the industry of war and preparation for war which will become our nation’s greatest industry; and adding to all this the most romantic adventures in global planning, regeneration, and domination, all to be done under the authority of a powerfully centralized government in which the executive will hold in effect all the powers, with Congress reduced to the role of a debating society.
John T. Flynn, As We Go Marching [1944]

I have always thought that people were able to get through the Great Depression because of their inner strength that was born of faith, work ethic, strength of family, and strength of character. I doubt very much that our society would weather the same conditions today — because of a lack of those very things.

When a country is not on a gold standard, when its citizens are not even permitted to own gold, when they are told that irredeemable paper money is just as good, when they are compelled to accept payment in such paper of debts or pensions that are owed to them, when what they have put aside, for retirement or old age, in savings banks or insurance policies, consists of this irredeemable paper money, then they are left without protection as the issue of this paper money is increased and the purchasing power of each unit falls; then they can be completely impoverished by the political decisions of the 'monetary managers.' — Henry Hazlitt, The Freeman [October 1965]

Got this from today's FFF e-newsletter. Nixon plundered this country (monetarily by introducing the Gold standard) shortly after that statement was made, and it will never, ever be the same again.

We can best help children, not by deciding what we think they should learn and thinking of ingenious ways to teach them, but by making the world, as far as we can, accessible to them, paying serious attention to what they do, answering their questions -- if they have any -- and helping them explore the things they are most interested in. — John Holt, Learning All the Time [1989]

The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is, in extending our external relations to have with them as little political connection as possible....Europe has a set of primary interests which to us have none or a very remote relation. Hence she must be engaged in frequent controversies, the causes of which are essentially foreign to our concerns. — George Washington, Farewell Address [September 26, 1796]
