Generals are being led around by their privates.

** Heard this today in response to the General Petraeus so-called sex scandal.

I highly doubt there even WAS a sex scandal. It's a ruse to shift the attention of americans, so that we AREN'T paying attention to something even more sinister. Bet on it.

How strange that so many men of peace die in war.

People are fed by the Food Industry which pay no attention to health . . . and people are treated by the Health Industry which pays no attention to food. - Wendell Berry

I have several of Wendell Berry's books and they are wonderful reading. His common sense reminds me very much of my Dad, who I have missed every single day since May 5th, 1996.

Good quote here from Thomas Jefferson:

"All human beings, irrespective of the accident of their birth, are entitled to enjoy the aspirations of being fully complete and free human beings."

I wonder what part of that quote the politicians of today don't get? But then again, they didn't get it back in the day of slavery, either. I'm not sure the "haves" ever intended to get it. Playing dumb fits them and their goals much better, and they do it well.

Some quotes from John Muir:

"The thieves, the devil, and their relations, attack all good ideas".

"There are people good enough and there are people bad enough to do anything".

"Nothing dollarable is safe from mankind".

"Setting aside land isn't the same as protecting it".

"When you need money or support for some project, whether it's from a friend or from the government, everything suddenly becomes a tool for that purpose".

Another good one found over at Instapundit today:

JAY LENO: “President Obama got some good news today. The IRS ruled he can write off the first half of his second term as a total loss.”

And so can every single person living in america.

Ron Paul IS a great man and the only sad thing is that we get excited over common sense. We in the USA are so accustomed to stupidity in politics that we are addicted to a man who is educated, unbiased, and not in politics for the prestige or the money. Politicians should have an "attitude of servitude" - and you can tell Ron Paul is genuine. We just need to stop allowing lying, exploiting politicians to be a thing of the norm.

If, in the beginning, we could see down the road what's in store for all of us, I reckon not many of us would go on. It's the only advantage to NOT having a crystal ball. 8-)

"Obamacare has been funded, big business and those with influence have been exempted from it, the debt limit has been increased and, sadly, the faith of the American people in their elected officials has decreased." - Sen. Mike Lee

Hey was there ever any doubt? We have a bunch of gutless wonders on the Hill and few people, even though optimistic, expected this to go any other way. And that really IS sad. We, the people, cannot depend on those we elect to do what they promised during their election campaigns, and no one is a better or bigger example of that than our current chimp in the highest office.
