OMGosh, all of the newscasters on tv and radio are just going bananas about this winter storm moving across the country to the atlantic coast. Good grief you'd think they'd never seen snow before.

They are all up-in-arms about 18 inches of snow. They're all acting as if their hair is on fire. 18 inches is virtually nothing - especially this time of year when it will all melt and be gone by the end of the week. This is just a scare tactic (but oh boy does Home Depot and Lowe's love the tactic!) to get people to buy huge amounts of groceries, buy shovels, buy rock salt, buy winter clothing left in stores (who need to get rid of it, doncha know?)! It's gotten to be borderline ridiculous.

Where I live, we get 3 to 6 FEET of snow at once, sometimes, and the weather channel makes a passing reference to it, and the other tv and radio stations don't even mention it. But this is the state of our news coverage today. If it doesn't affect the eastern seaboard or WADC, we don't/won't hear about it. The weather channel is the worst, since of course their primary purpose is WEATHER, non?? They haven't mentioned anything about the situation with the CA dam, other than little 3 second blips, for weeks. They're all too busy playing in the snow I think. Or maybe they're busy interviewing women to be their next "weather girl with the most annoying voice in history" because all the ones they have now are God-awful.
